The honest answer

Both can be the right choice. The wrong choice usually comes from picking one without thinking about what the project actually requires.

When a freelancer is the right choice

  • Small, well-defined project (logo design, single landing page, simple automation)
  • Tight budget — a good Polish freelancer charges 80–150 PLN/hour vs. 200–350 for an agency
  • You know exactly what you want and can manage the project yourself
  • Speed — a single specialist starts faster than spinning up an agency team
  • Specialist expertise — sometimes you need one world-class skill, not a full team
  • When an agency is the right choice

  • Multi-discipline project (website + branding + SEO + ads simultaneously)
  • You need someone to own the project — agencies project-manage, freelancers usually don't
  • Continuity matters — agencies absorb talent departures, freelancers can disappear
  • Scale — agencies have capacity to ramp up; individual freelancers are capped at their hours
  • Accountability — contracts, SLAs, and professional liability are standard at agencies
  • The Poland-specific context

The Polish freelance market is strong and technically capable — especially in web development, design, and performance marketing. But the coordination overhead for a complex multi-channel project typically favors an agency.

Our honest take: For a first website or single campaign, a freelancer can be excellent value. For a growing company that needs web, marketing, AI, and brand work coordinated — an agency with a clear process is worth the premium.

    Red flags for each option

Freelancer red flags: no contract, no discovery process, price is suspiciously low, portfolio doesn't match your industry.

Agency red flags: no transparency on who actually does the work, account manager you never hear from, templates presented as custom, lock-in contracts.
